The Cincinnati Bengals will look to stay in the hunt for the top spot in the AFC North when they face the Washington Redskins on Sunday as narrow three-point favorites on the NFL betting lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Sunday morning’s Redskins vs. Bengals matchup at Wembley Stadium marks the third and final NFL contest held in London, England, this season.
Designated home teams have posted straight-up wins in three straight at Wembley. That is good news for Cincinnati, which has posted two consecutive wins at home, halting a 2-4 SU slide in which the Bengals covered the spread only once.
The 3-4 Bengals trail the idle Pittsburgh Steelers by just one game in the AFC North. However, Cincinnati has struggled on the road, averaging fewer than 16 points per game in three straight SU and ATS losses.
The 4-3 Redskins saw a four-game SU and ATS win streak end with last week’s 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions, which also marked their first defeat in six road contests. Washington needs a SU win to keep pace with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, but the Redskins have not posted a win over the Bengals since 1991, losing three straight since then both SU and against the spread.
Elsewhere, the Cowboys can strengthen their grip on the top spot in the NFC East when they take on the Eagles on Sunday night as 4 1/2-point home chalk.
Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has led Dallas to five straight wins, including three outright as betting underdogs. Prescott also has received help from a Cowboys defense that has surrendered just 16 points per game over the team’s last four outings.
Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has navigated the Eagles to a 4-2 record, including last week’s 21-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings, and will look to lead the club to a fourth straight SU win in Dallas.
In other NFL Week 8 betting action, one of the league’s stingiest defenses faces the NFL’s most prolific passer when the Seattle Seahawks visit the New Orleans Saints as 2 1/2-point road favorites.
The Seahawks have surrendered just 8.7 points per game on the road this season but must find a way to contain Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who threw for 465 yards with four touchdowns in last week’s 41-38 win over the Carolina Panthers.
The 1-5 Panthers will look to bounce back when they host the struggling Arizona Cardinals as three-point chalk this weekend, while the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons host the Green Bay Packers also favored by three points.
