Panthers Troll NFL’s Social Media Rules With Clever Tweet During ‘MNF’

The Carolina Panthers choked away a much-needed win Monday night, but at least their social media game was on point.

The defending NFC champions sit at 1-4 after a potentially crushing last-second loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it doesn’t look good for Carolina moving forward.

That’s not to say there weren’t any highlights for the Panthers on “Monday Night Football.” If you weren’t watching the game, though — and the initial TV ratings indicate you probably weren’t — you missed a handful of nice plays from both teams.

The natural place to put those highlights would be on Twitter on the teams’ official website, perhaps in GIF or video form. Of course, the NFL recently warned teams via email that any teams posting highlights to Twitter before the NFL would be subject to hefty fines.

So, the Panthers found a way to improvise.

According to ESPN.com, which obtained a copy of the letter the NFL sent its 32 teams, a first offense comes with a $25,000 fine, $50,000 for a second offense and $100,000 for each additional offense.
