Patriots Receive Roster Exemptions For Tom Brady, Rob Ninkovich

FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots requested and received roster exemptions for quarterback Tom Brady and defensive end Rob Ninkovich on Monday.

The roster exemptions expire next Monday, Oct. 10, so if the Patriots want Brady or Ninkovich to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, they would need to be activated Saturday by 4 p.m. The Patriots could elect to hold either player out an extra week with the roster exemptions, though that seems very unlikely with Brady.

The Patriots opened a roster spot Monday by releasing tight end Clay Harbor. They would need to move another player by Saturday to make room on the roster for Brady and Ninkovich. Both players’ suspensions were lifted Monday.
