The New England Patriots worked out three free agents Monday as they search for a 10th player to add to their practice squad.

The Patriots worked out fullback Austin Johnson, wide receiver Donteea Dye and tight end Gannon Sinclair, a source told NESN.com.

Johnson recently was on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Tennessee product has 12 carries for 31 yards and seven catches for 45 yards in 17 career games, all with the Saints. He was on the Saints when they came to New England for joint practices with the Patriots this summer.

Dye went undrafted out of Heidelberg University in 2015 and most recently was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 6-foot, 195-pound receiver caught 11 passes for 132 yards with a touchdown in 10 games and five starts with the Buccaneers last season.

Sinclair was a member of the Chicago Bears when they held joint practices with the Patriots this summer. The 6-foot-7, 258-pound tight end went undrafted out of Missouri State in 2015.

The Patriots opened a spot on their practice squad when they signed defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton off the scout team Saturday.
