Yoan Moncada is done in the Arizona Fall League.
The Boston Red Sox shut down their top prospect Friday after the third baseman was diagnosed with a sprained left thumb. Moncada jammed it swinging at an inside pitch on Oct. 21.
Moncada went to the AFL after a lackluster call-up with the Red Sox in September. After going 4-for-19 with 12 strikeouts in eight major-league games, the 21-year-old posted a .292 average with a home run and three RBIs in 24 at-bats with the Surprise Saguaros.
Moncada will be shut down for two weeks and is expected to be ready for spring training.
