No magical spell is going to fix the NFL’s problems, but Richard Sherman has a few more practical ideas for the league.

The Seattle Seahawks cornerback has never been one to mince words, especially when it comes to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. However, he took things a step further Thursday in a column for The Players’ Tribune.

There’s no doubt it’s been a bad year for the league. The ratings have taken a huge hit, and the NFL seems to be cracking down more on touchdown celebrations while Josh Brown only received a one-game suspension for domestic violence accusations.

So what can the NFL do about all this? Sherman gave a few examples in his column, including one about Goodell.

“Part of the problem is that players are being told to “act like they’ve been there” by a group of people who have never been there themselves — Roger Goodell chief among them,” Sherman wrote. “I also think one of the things that needs to happen is for Roger Goodell to give up some of his power. He’s not an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful being. He’s human, and I think he needs help dealing with the issues facing the league — from unsportsmanlike conduct to domestic violence.”

Will the NFL (finally) listen? (Probably) not.
