Indians starter Trevor Bauer couldn’t make it out of the first inning Monday in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series because the finger he cut last week in a freak drone accident started pouring blood, forcing Cleveland manager Terry Francona to turn to his bullpen.
And get this: It wasn’t even the Indians’ first injury of the night.
Francona himself had a little mishap before the game. He apparently lost a tooth while chewing tobacco, prompting a lot of shouting and an eventual trip to the dentist after the Indians defeated the Blue Jays 4-2 in Toronto to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in the ALCS.
Here’s the story of Francona’s lost tooth, via MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian.
Kudos to Tito for pushing through.
