‘The Simpsons’ To Take Not-So-Subtle Jabs At Boston, Patriots In New Episode

People love to hate the New England Patriots, including Homer Simpson.

Sunday’s episode of “The Simpsons” will take some not-so-subtle jabs at the Patriots and the city of Boston, according to FOX. The episode will feature a rather serious-looking football coach in a hoodie, a player named “Bonkowski” and a player wearing the No. 12 that sure looks a lot like Tom Brady.

Check out a synopsis of the episode, titled “The Town.”

“After Homer catches Bart rooting for Springfield’s football rival, the Boston Americans, he plans a family ‘hate-cation’ trip to Boston in an attempt to show Bart that Boston is a terrible city.”

It appears “South Park” has some competition when it comes to taking jabs at the Patriots.

But, according to executive producer Al Jean, Homer eventually enjoys Boston thanks to some candlepin bowling.

“Homer is thrilled because he learns you can get three balls when you bowl, and they want to move there,” Jean told Entertainment Weekly. “I think people from Boston will be very thrilled how thorough it is in its depiction of Boston. The bowling alley is owned by Whitey Bulger.”

The episode will air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, and will put a stamp on a busy sports day for Boston fans that includes the (real) Patriots welcoming back Tom Brady against the Cleveland Browns, and the Boston Red Sox playing Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians.
