This Cubs World Series Prediction From 1993 Seems Too Crazy To Be True

If you predicted at the beginning of the season that the Chicago Cubs would win the 2016 World Series, good for you. Your pick remains in play.

But we’re not impressed.

That’s because someone already called it back in 1993, according to a yearbook photo making the rounds on the internet ahead of the Cubs’ Fall Classic showdown with the Cleveland Indians.

It’s almost unbelievable that someone could make such a prediction 23 years out. And it’s not just because of how long ago it was or that the Cubs haven’t won a World Series title since 1908. It’s because choosing the year “2016” seems kind of random, no? I mean, why the heck did this modern day Nostradamus pick 2016 rather than, say, 2004 or 2010 or any other year since then?

The prediction apparently is legit, though, as several people have come forward to verify its validity in advance of Tuesday’s Game 1.

Of course, the Cubs still need to win four more games before the prediction comes true. But if Chicago emerges victorious over Cleveland, we all can agree that Michael Lee, a senior at Mission Viejo High School in California in 1993, probably called it before anyone on the planet.
