There’s no better tradition than football on Thanksgiving, and this year’s NFL Turkey Day slate got off to an awesome start.

Well, in some people’s minds.

Before the Detroit Lions’ matchup with Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, Aretha Franklin got the ball rolling by singing the national anthem at Ford Field. The iconic singer delivered a stirring rendition, but there was just one problem: The performance ran nearly five minutes long.

For some, time hardly was an issue for Franklin’s sparkling show.

But many others couldn’t quite get over the lengthy anthem.

This is one of the longest national anthems we’ve ever seen, so we don’t blame people for getting antsy. Then again, it’s safe to say Franklin has earned enough “respect” over her legendary music career to go as long as she darn well pleases.
