Bill Belichick Didn’t Appreciate ‘Butt Fumble’ Question Ahead Of Patriots-Jets Game

FOXBORO, Mass. — This week marked the four-year anniversary of the “Butt Fumble,” which still is — and probably forever will be — viewed as one of the most hilarious mishaps in NFL history.

Bill Belichick wasn’t laughing, though.

Asked Wednesday for his thoughts on the play, which took place during a New England Patriots-New York Jets game on Thanksgiving Day in 2012, the Patriots coach didn’t so much as crack a smile.

“Yeah, I don’t think we’ll get to that,” Belichick said. “Great question, though. Really, that’s awesome.”

The second part of the coach’s response was dripping with sarcasm, as you can see in the video below.

The Patriots visit the Jets — who no longer employ butt fumbler Mark Sanchez — this Sunday.
