Blair Walsh never bounced back from his terrible miss in last season’s playoffs.

The Vikings announced Tuesday that they released Walsh, who was in the midst of his fifth season as Minnesota’s kicker.

Walsh converted 12 of 16 field-goal attempts this season. He also missed four of his 19 extra-point attempts for the Vikings, who have lost four in a row after starting the season 5-0.

Walsh earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2012, but many Vikings fans will remember him for missing a 27-yard field-goal attempt in the final minute of Minnesota’s NFC wild card matchup with the Seattle Seahawks in January.
