Tyler Kavan probably won’t stay atop the college football heap, but the amazing play he made Saturday put him there for at least one shining moment.

The Morningside College (Sioux City, Iowa) running back made an unforgettable play in the second quarter of his team’s win over Northwestern College in the NAIA’s Great Plains Athletic Conference. Morningside was leading 7-0 when Kavan ran for decent yardage, fumbled the ball, later retrieved it in an interception and ran it back almost 60 yards into Northwestern’s end zone, per his original intention.

Kavan’s core ultimately represented the winning play, as Morningside triumphed 14-13 to seal the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season title.

Of all the plays Saturday’s action in the sports world produced, ESPN’s “Sportscenter” liked Kavan’s the most.

No argument here.
