Donald Trump has the support of two of the largest figures in New England sports. At least, he claims he does.

The Republican presidential nominee said Monday during a rally in New Hampshire that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had cast his vote for him.

“(Brady) called (Monday),” Trump said, “and he said, ‘Donald, you are my friend, and I voted for you.’ And I want to tell you, this guy is a champ, and he is a winner, and he is a great person.”

Trump also said Patriots coach Bill Belichick had penned him a letter congratulating him on a “tremendous campaign” and hailing him as “the ultimate competitor and fighter.”

Trump said he received Brady’s and Belichick’s permission to share their support with the crowd that had assembled in Manchester, N.H., on the eve of the election.

Brady said Monday morning on WEEI’s “Kirk & Callahan” he had not voted yet.

Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen, also recently told a fan on Instagram that the couple doesn’t “back” Trump.

The quarterback and coach both are scheduled to speak with reporters Wednesday morning at Gillette Stadium.
