It sounds like Jamie Collins is adjusting just fine to life with the Cleveland Browns.
The former New England Patriots linebacker spoke to the media Wednesday for the first time since the Pats traded him to Cleveland for a compensatory third-round draft pick earlier in the week. Collins expressed excitement about starting a new chapter in his career, even if it’s a brief one, as he’s set to become a free agent after the season.
Somewhat surprisingly, Collins claimed the Browns already feel more like a family than the Patriots did, despite being part of the Cleveland family for just a few days.
On the surface, that might seem like a weird thing for Collins to say, but there’s no denying the Patriots carry themselves with a more business-like approach than probably a lot of teams across the NFL. It also indicates that a change of scenery might be just what the doctor ordered for a player like Collins, although that’s pure speculation.
Collins made it clear he wasted no time moving on from the Patriots, the team that drafted him in 2013 and with which he spent his first three-plus seasons in the NFL.
“I get the news and I move on,” he told reporters, per The Plain Dealer. “I’m not the type to pout about nothing.”
