Nate Holley might have already made his last tackle in college football.
The Kent State University safety was arraigned on a felony kidnapping charge Monday in Kent, Ohio, and the Golden Flashes immediately suspended him indefinitely from the team, according to The Plain Dealer in Cleveland.
Police arrested Holley on Friday, and he posted bond and was given a court date Monday, according to The Associated Press. Holley, who leads the nation in solo tackles this season with 8.9 per game, now faces a felony charge and perhaps the end of his college football career.
“We are aware of the situation and take this matter very seriously,” Kent State spokesman Eric Mansfield told The AP on Monday via e-mail. “He has been suspended from the team indefinitely.”
The charge stems from an alleged incident that occurred last week in Franklin Township, Ohio. Little else is known about the incident, and the female involved has not been identified.
Holley was a first-team All-MAC safety in his sophomore and junior years and was on pace to perhaps earn similar honors this season.
