Martellus Bennett Tackles NFL’s Ratings Issues With Perfect MySpace Comparison

Nailed it.

New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett articulated how we’ve all been feeling about the NFL this season with one simple tweet in the wee hours of Monday morning following the Green Bay Packers’  27-13 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football.”

The NFL, of course, dealt earlier this season with one of its worst ratings dips in recent memory.

Part of that problem could be related to oversaturation of a sport that used to rule a single day of the week and has now expanded and attempted to take over three. Interestingly enough, MySpace dealt with some of the same oversaturation problems — as evidenced perfectly by Bennett giving us this message via Twitter.

Only time will tell if Roger Goodell and Tom from MySpace will be sipping whiskey alone (with globs of money) at the corner of some dive bar in years to come. But until then, we can chuckle at this throwback reference from one of the Patriots’ more colorful players.
