The Boston Bruins will be aiming to end a two-game road skid Tuesday night when they travel to Philadelphia to battle the beleaguered Flyers in a game that sits as a pick’em on the NHL betting lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Boston halted a three-game overall skid with a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning as -135 home chalk on Sunday, but it has tallied just one total goal in a pair of road losses ahead of Tuesday night’s Bruins vs. Flyers betting matchup at Wells Fargo Center.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Bruins all season. Boston shooters have found the mark on just 16 occasions over the team’s past eight games, scoring more than two goals in just two of those matchups. That drought has dropped the B’s to 23rd in the NHL in goals for per game at 2.36.
However, after surrendering just 11 total goals over their past six games, the Bruins remain among the league leaders with a 2.27 goals against average as a team.
The team’s low-scoring games have had an impact on totals betting in recent weeks. Nine of the Bruins’ last 11 games have finished with five or fewer total goals, paying out on the UNDER on six occasions while ending as a push three times.
The Flyers, meanwhile, will be looking to record back-to-back wins for the first time in almost four weeks after handing the visiting Calgary Flames a 5-3 loss as -135 home favorites Sunday.
Philadelphia’s win ended a brief two-game swoon, including a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers as +115 underdogs last Friday. However, consistency has been a massive problem for the Flyers, who are 4-7 in 11 games since entering November on a three-game win streak.
The Flyers also sit near the bottom of the league with a 6-9 record in games settled within 60 minutes, but they have shown signs of improvement with a 5-5 record over their past 10 outings.
The Bruins posted a narrow 3-2 victory in their last visit to Philadelphia back in January, ending a two-game skid against the Flyers. But Boston has dominated overall in recent years, going 17-5 over the past 22 meetings between the two clubs according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
Following Tuesday’s matchup, the Bruins return home to face Carolina on Thursday before traveling to Buffalo to battle the Sabres on Saturday. Boston is winless in two home dates with the Hurricanes, but it is unbeaten in four straight visits to Western New York.
