Quincy Enunwa gave New York Jets fans plenty to cheer about Sunday at MetLife Stadium — the Jets fans who didn’t sell their tickets to New England Patriots fans, at least.
The Jets wide receiver had the best game of his young career, hauling in all five of his targets for 109 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as the Patriots came from behind to beat the Jets.
New England’s win came to the delight of thousands of Patriots fans who invaded the Meadowlands and showered quarterback Tom Brady with “Brady, Brady” chants late in the game.
Enunwa noticed as much and wasn’t pleased.
“It’s tough,” Enunwa told reporters, per the New York Daily News. “I mean, I know as a fan it’s hard to support when your team’s not playing the way you want them to. I don’t blame them, but at the same time, it would be great if we could have more of our fans in our home stadium.”
At least Enunwa is sympathetic to the difficulty of rooting for a now 3-8 team after Sunday’s loss. Maybe Jets fans actually are doing the team a long-term favor. Eliminating any sort of home-field advantage might hurt the Jets in the short run, but if New York loses out, it technically will benefit in terms of draft position. So at least there’s that?
