Andre Ward Vs. Sergey Kovalev: Preview, Analysis, Prediction For Megafight

Nov 17, 2016

Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward both are undefeated in their professional boxing careers, but when the two light heavyweights meet in the ring Saturday night in Las Vegas, something will have to give.

Kovalev (30-0-1, 26 KOs) is a power puncher who can finish a fight at any given moment with his lethal strikes. Just two men have been able to go a full 12 rounds against the Russian. How powerful is Kovalev? Back in 2011, a fighter actually died as a result of injuries sustained from Kovalev’s punches.

Ward (30-0, 15 KOs) is a defensive fighter who possesses incredible finesse and footwork. Seven of Ward’s last nine fights have gone the distance, and the Son of God should be pumped to fight in Las Vegas for the first time in his career.

So who has the edge in this fight that’s essentially a pick ’em in the sportsbooks?

NESN.com’s Andre Khatchaturian spoke with USA TODAY’s Mike Coppinger to help preview and analyze the showdown featuring two of the world’s best fighter. Check out their conversation in the video above.
