Even as people who write for a living, sometimes we’re just at a loss for words and have to sit back and marvel at what an athlete just did.

Stephen Curry had (another) one of those performances Monday night, and he did so one game after being on the other end of the spectrum.

On Friday, the Golden State Warriors’ two-time defending MVP snapped an NBA-record 157-game streak in which he hit at least one 3-point field goal by going 0-for-10 from beyond the arc in a 20-point loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. On Monday, Curry was back in action against the winless New Orleans Pelicans and apparently found his mojo along the way.

After yelling at a referee for not calling what Curry perceived to be a foul from Anthony Davis on a 3-point attempt, the 6-foot-1 point guard received a technical foul. He immediately responded by coming down the court, draining a trey and staring down the official.

It was lights out from there, as Curry broke the NBA record for most 3-pointers in a single game (12, which he previously shared with Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall).

It was one of those performances where, if you’re the Pelicans, you just pray every time you get back on defense. As evidenced in the video above, it didn’t matter how well New Orleans defended Curry or those trying to pass him the ball. It was lights out anyway.

Golden State won the game, 116-106, and Curry finished with 46 points on 16 of 26 shooting (13 of 17 from 3-point land), five rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Incredible.
