Long before Tom Brady was the legendary four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback of the New England Patriots, he was a young San Francisco 49ers fan growing up watching a dynasty not unlike the one he would someday lead.
Much was made about that childhood fandom last week leading up to New England’s game in San Francisco on Sunday. It was the first time in Brady’s career that he would play in front of his hometown fans.
Among the stories told was one in which Brady cried during an famous 49ers game because he wanted a foam finger. A now-famous photo from that game resurfaced last week after Brady told the story during one of his press conferences, and it was used during the CBS broadcast during the Week 11 matchup.
