Tom Brady Takes High Road, Laughs Off Reggie Wayne’s ‘Cheating’ Comment

Unsurprisingly, Tom Brady didn’t take the bait.

Brady on Monday during his weekly appearance on WEEI’s “Kirk and Callahan” learned about former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne saying last week the New England Patriots quarterback shouldn’t be considered for the NFL MVP award because “he was caught cheating this year.” As you’d expect, Brady didn’t fire back. Instead, he laughed off the comment and heaped praise on Wayne, a six-time Pro Bowl selection who actually spent time with the Pats before the 2015 season.

“Well, I still think he’s a great player, and it doesn’t change the experience I had with him when he was here,” Brady said, per WEEI.com.

Wayne’s comment about Brady angered many Patriots fans, with some taking to social media to bring up a previous report that said the wideout asked to be released by New England in September 2015 because playing for the organization was too hard and he thus wasn’t having fun. Wayne shot down those rumors via Twitter, and it sounds like Brady has nothing but love for the ex-receiver despite last week’s criticism.

“I don’t know what Reggie said or anything, but I liked being with Reggie,” Brady said. “I actually had a lot of great conversations with him. Played against him for a long time. He’s a Hall of Famer. I always wish Reggie the best. He was a great player.”

Typical Brady. Close the book on this one.
