NEW YORK — It’s official. Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez are ready to tango in the octagon for the lightweight title belt after they both made weight Friday at Madison Square Garden at the UFC 205 weigh-ins.

A large contingent of McGregor supporters greeted “The Notorious” as he entered the stage. He weighed in at 154.4 pounds. Alvarez, on the other hand, was mostly booed when he came in and weighed in at 154.6.

Earlier in the day, welterweight fighter Kelvin Gastelum announced he wouldn’t fight Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 205 because he didn’t make weight. Gastelum didn’t even show up for the weigh-ins.

On the preliminary card, lightweights Jim Miller’s and Thiago Alves’ fight was in jeopardy after Alves missed weight by eight pounds — one pound greater than New York’s required weight difference to make a lightweight fight official. So Miller was able to rehydrate in order to make a catchweight fight possible.
