FOXBORO, Mass. — Seven seconds.

That’s how long it took, from handoff to whistle, for LeGarrette Blount to score a 1-yard touchdown late in the second quarter of Sunday night’s New England Patriots-Seattle Seahawks game at Gillette Stadium.

Blount’s score was a testament to the Patriots running back’s determination, and he appeared to be stopped short multiple times before he finally reached the ball over the goal line. Blount punctuated the rush with an emphatic spike before being mobbed by his teammates.

The hard-fought touchdown was Blount’s second of the game and 11th of the season, bringing him within three of Curtis Martin’s single-season franchise record of 14. Blount added a third TD midway through the third quarter.

Of those 12 touchdowns, 10 have been from fewer than 10 yards out and six have been 1-yard scores.
