Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III was forced to leave Sunday’s 20-17 win over the San Diego Chargers in order to be evaluated for a concussion.
Griffin spoke with trainers and an independent neurologist on the sideline before being escorted to the locker room for further testing. The Browns announced that Griffin had been diagnosed with a concussion on their twitter account during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game.
Rookie quarterback Cody Kessler replaced Griffin, who ended the day with 17 completions on 25 pass attempts for 164 yards.
The Browns have had six different players take snaps at quarterback this season. Griffin missed 10 games earlier in the campaign with a fractured bone in his left shoulder. The Browns, who picked up their first win Sunday, will finish their season next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
