All Boston Celtics fans want to know is this: When will the trade talks start picking up?

This question was answered Thursday morning, as Celtics general manager Danny Ainge explained on 98.5’s “Toucher and Rich” that we’re still a couple weeks away from seeing any action.

“I think that from the middle of December through the middle of February it (gets) really heated up, and we anticipate that our phones will be ringing,” Ainge said.

Ainge went on to explain that this is partly because of the NBA rulebook, as there are certain dates to look out for.

“I think that December, after Dec. 15 is a date where players that signed in the offseason are now eligible to be traded,” he said. “Some on Dec. 15, some on Jan. 15, and the trade deadline is the middle of February, so that’s usually when a lot of the discussion happens.”

The C’s currently are 10-8 on the season, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference, but they certainly have the assets and future salary-cap space to make a big move and get to the next level.
