Divock Origi Strikes Again, As Liverpool, West Ham Draw In Premier League

Liverpool came from behind but had to settle for a point, as West Ham held it to a 2-2 draw on Sunday at Anfield.

Adam Lallana swept the Reds into a fifth-minute lead to cap a well-worked move, but Dimitri Payet’s long-range free-kick tied the score shortly after.

And the Hammers went into half-time holding a 2-1 lead, as Michail Antonio capitalized on hesitation within the Reds defense to prod beyond Loris Karius.

Liverpool equalized almost immediately after the break, with Divock Origi on hand to tap in after Darren Randolph had spilled Sadio Mane’s cross.

And though the home team applied heavy pressure to the visitors’ goal as they went in search of a winner, they were unable to muster a third as West Ham claimed a share of the points.

The key points …

  • Fine Lallana strike opened the scoring with just five minutes played.
  • Payet free-kick drew Hammers level midway through first half before Antonio put them in front.
  • Origi levelled from Randolph mistake in early stages of second half.
  • Reds go third in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Chelsea.
