Fantasy Football Week 14 Starts, Sits: Settling Toughest Lineup Decisions

It’s fantasy football playoff time, and that means one wrong roster move could be the end of your season.

That’s why we’re here to take some of the pressure off setting your lineup.

Injuries and disappointing seasons have taken some of the NFL’s best players off the fantasy radar in Week 14, but the good news is there still are options out there to put together a winning team. Here are our starts and sits for Sunday and Monday’s games.

STARTS
Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winston hasn’t been perfect this season, but he’s been pretty consistent, and that should come in handy against a terrible New Orleans Saints pass defense. Winston already has done some damage to other bad defenses this season — he put up seven touchdowns on the Atlanta Falcons over two games and three on the San Francisco 49ers — so you can expect big things in Week 14.

Jeremy Hill, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Hill has posted double-digit fantasy points in four of his last six games, starting with a 168-yard, one-touchdown performance against Cleveland. He gets to play the Browns again in Week 14, and he should do more of the same, especially with Giovani Bernard out.

Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers
Stewart has been touchdown dependent this season, but it’s a fairly safe bet that he’ll score against the Chargers this week. San Diego has allowed 16 rushing touchdowns this season — good for third-worst in the NFL — and is allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to running backs.

Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots
Edelman has 40 targets over his last three games, and that should continue with Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola out for the Patriots. Add in the fact that the Baltimore Ravens’ pass defense is allowing 222 yards per game, and you can pretty much guarantee Edelman will put up significant points.

Cameron Brate, TE, Buccaneers
The Saints’ defense actually performs pretty well against tight ends, but that’s partly because just four of those tight ends have been major targets. Brate has a touchdown in four of his last six games and was targeted nine times against the Chargers in Week 13. He’s a pretty safe streaming option if you’re in need of a tight end.

SITS
Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans
Mariota has been one of the most consistent fantasy quarterbacks this season, but he and the Titans are facing the Denver Broncos on Sunday. If you haven’t figured it out by now, starting quarterbacks — or any offensive player, really — against the Broncos is ill-advised.

Devontae Booker, RB, Denver Broncos
The 92.3 rushing yards per game the Titans’ defense has been allowing is seventh-best in the league. Denver also just signed Justin Forsett, who is expected to play Sunday, so Booker is a hard pass this week.

Jarvis Landry, WR, Miami Dolphins
Landry was targeted a season-high 14 times and caught 11 passes against the Ravens in Week 13, but he still put up just 87 yards and failed to score. He won’t do any better against an Arizona Cardinals secondary that’s allowed the fewest passing touchdowns this season.

Allen Robinson, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Robinson is averaging 24 yards per game in his last three outings, and the Minnesota Vikings allow the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. He should stay far, far away from your starting lineup.

Dennis Pitta, TE, Baltimore Ravens
The Patriots allow the 12th-fewest fantasy points to tight ends, and Pitta isn’t going to produce 90 yards and two touchdowns like he did in Week 13 against the Dolphins. In fact, those were Pitta’s first touchdowns this season.
