The sports world lost a great one Thursday when Craig Sager passed away after a long battle with leukemia.

Athletes, coaches, and fans across the nation were deeply saddened by the loss, including San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

As opposed to talking about his team’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns, Popovich took his pregame press conference time to talk about Sager.

An emotional Popovich expressed how fond he was of Sager as a media member, but more importantly, as a person.

He mentioned at the beginning of the clip that in moments like this, basketball takes a backseat.
