FOXBORO, Mass — If you were watching ESPN’s pregame coverage of the Baltimore Ravens-New England Patriots “Monday Night Football” game, we hope you had a box of tissues nearby.
In an “E:60” feature, ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi presented the story of Logan Schoenhardt, a 10-year-old from Simsbury, Conn. And like so many people in New England, he’s a huge Tom Brady fan.
Schoenhardt has had tumors in his brain on and off again for most of his life, and he has had multiple surgeries to remove them. Before he went under for one of those surgeries, Schoenhardt asked the doctor if he could have the No. 12 engraved on his skull.
The doctor granted Schoenhardt’s request, and his story eventually made its way to Gillette Stadium and the man who wears the No. 12 for the Patriots on Sundays.
“Hey Logan, Tom Brady here,” Brady said, as seen on “E:60.” “I just wanted to let you know I’ve heard about your incredible story, your incredible journey. It’s amazing what you’ve fought through over the course of your life. And I’m a big fan of yours, and I wanted to let you know to keep hanging tough, keep fighting like you have been your whole life. I’m certainly one of your biggest fans.”
Since then, Schoenhardt received the devastating news that his tumor returned and was inoperable. So how did he respond? He made a bucket list, and at the top of it was meeting Brady, which he got to cross off.
