Here’s How Red Sox, MLB Players Reacted To Reported Chris Sale Trade

Every offseason, at least one trade comes along and stuns the baseball world.

This was it.

The Boston Red Sox reportedly acquired All-Star left-hander Chris Sale in a trade with the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, marking easily the biggest blockbuster of the year.

Since this is 2016, reaction to the reported deal was instantaneous. Before the deal was even confirmed, several of Sale’s future teammates took to Twitter to weigh in — starting with relief pitcher Joe Kelly, who took the obvious route and dropped a solid pun.

The Red Sox reportedly gave up four prospects for Sale, but catcher Blake Swihart apparently isn’t one of them. That means he’s happy.

Boston outfielder Chris Young also made use of the eye emoji, prompting a lovely response from Brock Holt.

The Red Sox weren’t the only players reacting to the deal, as Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer and Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis realized they have their work cut out for them next season.

This trade is a shocker, so don’t expect the chatter to die down anytime soon.
