Here’s The Story Of Tom Brady’s Pliability, Which Jon Gruden Absolutely Loved

Tom Brady delivered another (nearly) flawless performance Monday night in the New England Patriots’ win over the Baltimore Ravens.

So, how did the 39-year-old light up the NFL’s best defense for 406 passing yards and three touchdowns? For Jon Gruden, it’s all about “pliability.”

The ESPN color analyst couldn’t get enough of the adjective Monday night, repeatedly bringing up how “pliable” Brady is while clearly making play-by-play man Sean McDonough uncomfortable.

So, what the heck is Gruden talking about? Glad you asked.

Brady has developed an obsession with health over the past few years. He opened up his own “TB12 Sports Therapy Center” outside Gillette Stadium and launched an accompanying website and online store, all with the goal of helping athletes sustain “peak performance” through proper exercise and nutrition. From Brady’s website:

“The key is in complementing traditional strength and conditioning training with muscle pliability. Pliable muscles are softer, longer, and more resilient: they help insulate the body against injury and accelerate post-injury recovery.”

Brady’s apparent obsession with health and “muscle pliability” has been chronicled by the likes of The New York Times — which revealed that one of his “guilty pleasures” was avocado ice cream — and GQ, which got the four-time Super Bowl champion to gush about, well, you probably can guess.

“The biggest issue is muscle pliability,” Brady told the magazine in a May 2016 interview. “That’s what I think the biggest secret to me is. What is muscle pliability? Muscle pliability is keeping your muscles long and soft. We do so many exercises in the gym through all our strength training that make our muscles short and dense.”

So, yeah. Brady is really into muscle pliability. Apparently so is Gruden, who gave TB12 another plug at the end of the game.

Brady is a legitimate MVP candidate despite being the oldest starting quarterback in the league, so we’re all in on muscle pliability, too.
