Isaiah Thomas made the best pointless shot of the NBA season Wednesday night.

The Boston Celtics were taking on the Pistons in the third quarter at TD Garden when Detroit center Andre Drummond fouled the C’s point guard as he drove to the basket. But after the whistle blew, Thomas threw the ball up behind the backboard and some way, somehow ended up sinking the shot.

The shot didn’t count, and the Celtics went on to lose to the Pistons 121-114, but, man, was that cool.

Thomas had a pretty good night himself, though, as he put up a team-high 27 points and added four assists.
