The Boston Red Sox are keeping manager John Farrell at the helm for another season, and he couldn’t be happier.

President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski announced Monday that the club picked up Farrell’s contract option for the 2018 season, and the skipper spoke about it at the Major League Baseball winter meetings.

“I’m thrilled that it’s been exercised, obviously,” Farrell said. “I love the city, the organization. The first full year that Dave and I have had a chance to work together, I appreciate his confidence. We had a conversation a little bit yesterday and got a little bit personal where he walks in, he’s inheriting a manager and a chemo plan, and it has a chance to work itself out where we win a division title, we addressed and faced a lot of challenges throughout the course of the season.”
