Jon Lester Gives Hilarious, Self-Deprecating Response To MLB’s New CBA

Jon Lester is a very good pitcher, and Major League Baseball’s new collective bargaining agreement ensures he’ll get to continue his craft next season.

But forgive the guy if he wasn’t hoping for justĀ oneĀ more rule change in Wednesday night’s negotiations.

The Chicago Cubs pitcher, a four-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion, has one glaring hole in his game: An inexplicable inability to throw to first base on pick-off attempts. Like, he really can’t do it.

Fortunately, Lester is well aware of his mental block, which made his tweet Thursday morning about the league’s new CBA that much more awesome.

Can’t win ’em all, Jon.

There is some potential good news for Lester and his teammates, though: The MLB All-Star Game reportedly no longer will determine home-field in the World Series, so if the Cubs finish with baseball’s best record and win the National League pennant in 2017, as they did this year, they won’t have to worry about a meaningless game in July deciding where they play Game 1.
