Newspaper Runs Wrong Headline, Says Lions Lose to Cowboys, Not Giants

One Michigan newspaper already is preparing for the Detroit Lions to choke away the division.

At least that could be MLive’s defense for running a headline that read, “Lions Roped By Dallas Cowboys,” when the Cowboys and Lions are set to play next week. The Lions actually fell 17-6 to the New York Giants this past week, thanks in part to the talents of Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Perhaps the newspaper was just trying to save everyone some time next week by dropping the future headline a week early?

The Lions now are 9-5 and hold a one-game lead over the hard-charging Green Bay Packers for first place in the NFC North. But eight of their nine wins have been of the come-from-behind variety, and they finish the season against the 12-2 Cowboys and those red-hot Packers. So, you can forgive their fans for not being super-optimistic.

With quarterback Matthew Stafford banged up, the chances of the Lions earning a win next week seem slim. At least they already have next week’s headline ready to go.
