FOXBORO, Mass. — Wide receiver Danny Amendola (ankle) was the lone absence at the New England Patriots’ coldest practice of the year Thursday. Amendola isn’t expected back until the playoffs.

The Patriots practiced in full pads in 23 degree temperatures with an 8 degree wind chill. Players screamed during warmups as 22 mph winds whipped across the practice field adjacent to Gillette Stadium.

Linebacker Dont’a Hightower, who isn’t listed on the injury report, spent the beginning of practice on a stationary bike.

The Patriots play the Broncos in Denver on Sunday afternoon. The high in Denver on Sunday is 29 degrees with 6 mph winds, so it’s best for the Patriots to get used to the cold now.
