Patriots Practice Report: Martellus Bennett Among Four Players Absent

FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots are practicing four times this week with a Monday night game on the schedule, so it wasn’t surprising to see many banged-up players sit out of practice.

However, it was a little surprising to see Tom Brady participate Wednesday. The quarterback recently has skipped practices early in the week as he recovers from a knee injury.

Tight end Martellus Bennett (shoulder/ankle), safety Jordan Richards (knee), wide receiver Matthew Slater (foot) and wide receiver Danny Amendola (ankle) were absent. Cornerback Eric Rowe (hamstring) warmed up with his teammates but departed practice after the first drill.

Running back D.J. Foster practiced with both the running backs and wide receivers Wednesday. He has played just running back so far in the NFL, but he spent time at both positions in college at Arizona State.

Foster could see time at receiver with Amendola likely out until the playoffs. The Patriots also could sign Devin Lucien or DeAndrew White off the practice squad, as they have just three healthy wide receivers and one fully healthy tight end on their roster.
