FOXBORO, Mass. — Two key weapons in the New England Patriots’ passing attack returned to practice Thursday.

Quarterback Tom Brady (knee) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (foot) practiced with the Patriots after missing Wednesday’s session. Edelman reportedly had been in Los Angeles for the birth of his child.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski (back), defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton, defensive end Trey Flowers, safety Jordan Richards (knee) and practice-squad tight end Kennard Backman were absent.

Gronkowski reportedly is set to undergo surgery on his back and is expected to miss eight weeks.
