The 2017 NFL schedule will feature no fewer than four games played outside the United States. There’s a good chance one of those will feature the New England Patriots, according to a report from Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Howe reported Friday that New England is “a strong candidate to play in either London or Mexico next year.”
ESPN’s John Sutcliffe offered a similar report last month, saying the Patriots and Oakland Raiders could square off at Mexico’s Estadio Azteca at some point during the 2017 season.
Four NFL games will be played in London next season, the league announced Friday, and the matchups for those contests will be announced next week. The NFL has yet to confirm if it will hold another game in Mexico.
The Patriots have participated in two London showcases, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009 and dispatching the then-St. Louis Rams in 2012. Both of those games were played at Wembley Stadium.
