Sabres Score On Henrik Lundqvist From Center Ice 18 Seconds Into Game

Buffalo Sabres center John Larsson had just three goals in 22 games this season heading into Thursday’s meeting with the New York Rangers, but he certainly made his fourth one count.

Larsson got a little lucky, but he still made Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist look pretty silly when he scored from center ice — just 18 seconds into the game. The puck did get a bit of a bounce for Lundqvist to not anticipate it flying over his shoulder, but it was disappointing for the 2012 Vezina Trophy winner nonetheless.

That ended up being the only goal Lundqvist allowed in the first period, and the Rangers went into the third ahead by one. However, that’s when things got bad for the Sweden native once again, as former Boston University star Jack Eichel scored twice to give the Sabres a 4-3 win.
