FOXBORO, Mass. — Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson had some harsh words for wide receiver Brandon Marshall after New York’s 41-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Saturday.

“He should be embarrassed,” Richardson told reporters, via the New York Daily News.

Richardson, who got in hot water for a social media post last week, was asked why.

“There’s no reason,” Richardson said. “He just should be. He knows what he did. It’s cool, bro. … It’s irrelevant. Scratch that comment.”

Marshall, who exited the game with a hip injury after catching two passes on four targets for 28 yards, was critical of Richardson after the defensive lineman’s comments on Snapchat. The receiver was asked why Richardson said he should be embarrassed and took the high road.

“That’s Sheldon, man,” Marshall told reporters, via the New York Daily News. “It’s Sheldon. Our stories and our journey, the start of our careers are totally different but really similar. It hurts to see someone with so much potential and so many people trying to help him. … I just wish him the best. I hope that he gets everything he wants, man. He’s an amazing talent. I just want him to see the big picture.

“I know one of the things that he’s always said to me is he wants me to make more plays,” Marshall added. “So that’s the only thing I can think of.”

Marshall had a target intercepted by cornerback Eric Rowe. Richardson recorded eight tackles in the game.
