NFL rookies face plenty of challenges during their first season in the league. Apparently, K.J. Dillon learned about one of those challenges the hard way.
The Houston Texans safety got dinner with his teammates Monday night to celebrate their comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. But as is tradition, they stuck the rookie with the bill. Which means Dillon had to pay for — well, a lot.
Dillon tweeted a photo of the receipt but later deleted the tweet. The tweet read “When you get left with the tab…..” with the following photo attached.
Yes, that’s $16,255.20. Yes, Dillon essentially spent the price of a mid-size sedan on a single meal.
A couple highlights to note: The seven “Sea Bass w/ Lobster” meals that ran Dillon $350, the two filet mignons that somehow cost $53 each and the $7,700 worth of Hennessy.
But here’s the most ironic part: Dillon didn’t drink, according to another since-deleted tweet.
Dillon also admitted he was the guy who got the salad, which means his contribution to the bill probably was the smallest.
But such are the burdens that come with being a professional athlete. If the Texans go on to win the AFC South, though, let’s hope Dillon’s teammates pick up the next check.
