Baltimore Ravens defensive end Terrell Suggs has refused to mention New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady by name when talking to the media this week as the teams prepare for a Monday night Week 14 showdown at Gillette Stadium.

Suggs is no stranger to talking trash or doing these kinds of things in the media, but it doesn’t bother Brady one bit.

After all, he has to focus on beating one of the best defenses in the league this week, one led by Suggs.

“I don’t feel disrespect. I have a lot of respect for him,” Brady said Thursday night during his weekly appearance on Westwood One Radio with host Jim Gray. “He can choose to say whatever he wants, that’s obviously his right. I think he’s a great player.”

Big games between the Patriots and Ravens have become commonplace over the last decade or so, and Monday’s matchup is no different. The Patriots are fighting for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, while the Ravens are tied atop the AFC North with the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We’ve had a lot of meaningful games against that team and that defense,” Brady said. “I got a lot of respect for them and what they’re capable of doing. I played against some of the great Ravens defenses, with Hall of Famers like Ed Reed and Ray Lewis.

“Terrell, he’s a Hall of Famer, too, and he’s got that defense playing really well. They’re the first rated defense in the league, they’re highly rated in almost every defensive category, so it’s going to be a big test for our offense.”

The Patriots are 4-2 in their last six games against the Ravens. Their most recent meeting was the 2014 AFC Divisional playoff matchup, which New England won at home en route to a Super Bowl title.
