The New York Islanders put on a goal show Wednesday night. Let’s hope those who were watching didn’t blink.

The Islanders entered the NHL record books by scoring back-to-back goals in three seconds in their 5-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Anders Lee deflected a shot past Penguins goaltender Matt Murray with 26 seconds remaining in the third period to give the Islanders a 4-3 lead. Pittsburgh then pulled Murray, and Nikolay Kulemin quickly scored into the empty net with 23 seconds left in the game.

The two goals matched the NHL record for the fastest two goals in league history. The St. Louis Eagles and Minnesota Wild now have more company.
