FOXBORO, Mass. — With the New England Patriots’ offense sputtering early in their game Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens, New England’s defense provided the first points of the evening.

After Patriots special teamer Jonathan Jones downed a Ryan Allen punt at the Ravens’ 1-yard line, defensive tackle Malcom Brown knifed his way through Baltimore’s offensive line, manhandled fullback Kyle Juszczyk and dropped running back Kenneth Dixon in the end zone for a safety.

It was the third safety of the season for New England — a franchise record — and gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter.
