Youngstown State Heads To FCS Championship Game Thanks To Circus Catch

The Youngstown State Penguins had one final play to advance to the 2016 Football Championship Subdivision National Championship. And what a play it was.

Trailing by four in their semifinal game against the Eastern Washington Eagles, quarterback Hunter Wells let one last pass fly toward the end zone as time expired, and tight end Kevin Rader wouldn’t let the season end.

The play was reviewed and ruled a catch, giving the Penguins a 40-38 win and a date with the James Madison Dukes on Jan. 7. Youngstown State entered the playoffs unseeded and now is one win away from a national championship.

Looks like head coach Bo Pelini might get the last laugh after all.
