NESN’s Jerry Remy (@Jerry_Remy) wanted to get a message out to Red Sox fans on Monday: see your doctor regularly, even if it’s just for a routine checkup.

The Red Sox Hall of Famer and NESN game analyst recently was diagnosed with lung cancer for the fourth time. He believes that by keeping his regular doctor’s appointments, they were able to catch the cancer early enough that he could get treatment and continue doing the job that he loves as NESN’s Red Sox analyst.

NESN invited the local media to visit NESN’s studios to meet with Jerry. All five major Boston TV news stations attended, as did several major newspapers. NESN also set up a live screening room at JetBlue Park for media members who already are in Fort Myers. A conference call line also allowed other media members who couldn’t make it to NESN to listen and ask questions.
