The Chicago Cubs avoided a playoff exit in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, defeating L.A. 3-2 behind a strong performance from starter Jake Arrieta and a pair of Javier Baez home runs.

Out west, the new-look Houston Rockets defeated the Sacramento Kings to improve to 2-0, one night after taking down the Golden State Warriors. Both teams were hosting their 2017-18 home openers.
